| Blessings Of Ganesha Palm Engraving |
Ganesha, because of the special boon he received from Lord Shiva, is the first among gods to be invoked before any ceremonial prayer or worship. Also known as the scribe of the gods, he records every thing that happens in the universe. The elephant head is symbolic of his vast memory. He is also regarded as the remover of all obstacles and the god of general well-being and prosperity. With Ganesha as the centerpiece of this wall-hanging, the artist has engraved the ten dashavatars or reincarnations of Lord Vishnu above and below the main image. A delicate border frames the image. The specially processed and dried palm leaf is first cut into the required size. Artists from Orissa then engrave the palm leaf with a special iron-stylo. After the illustration is engraved, Lamp Black or powdered Coal is applied on the palm leaf. The engraved portion thus gets filled and highlighted in black line illustrations. Care is taken to remove the excess coal black on the palm leaf. Maintenance: Clean with a soft, dry paint brush. Handle with care. Height: 34.5 cms (13.5'') Width: 27 cms (10.5'') Please Note: Actual size, design and color may vary slightly from that shown in the image above. |
